I chose a Hays Travel Apprenticeship as I knew it was a company with a great reputation and one of the Top 100 Best Companies to Work For. I knew that I wouldn’t be limited to only one aspect of the job, as I was aware that there were a range of departments within Head Office and that I was extremely likely to find something to suit my personality and my interests, which the recruitment team helped me with at my interview.
My key roles include the organisation of the company events such as the annual Christmas party, to ensure they run smoothly. I was extremely lucky to be able to go to the Hays Travel 2019 Retail Conference which was held in Antalya, Turkey. I had only been an apprentice for 3 months, and therefore I was incredibly grateful to have this experience, to be able to spend the week in Turkey and be trusted enough to help organise this.
What I enjoy most about my apprenticeship role is when I can see all of the preparation and hard work that is done beforehand come together to produce an amazing event. It is rewarding to see staff/guests enjoying themselves at an event that I have had input in.
Since starting at Hays Travel I have gained a lot more confidence within my job and personally, mainly through skills I have learnt in my in-house training sessions. I have also learnt skills such as how to manage my time effectively and multi-task which has helped me excel within my department.

I love working in my team which has recently grown due to the company expansion as they are all lovely. My team are extremely supportive and are always willing to help me. We encourage each other through our team meetings, as well as throughout the day by offering help to others if needed.
At Hays Travel there is ample opportunity for progression within the business. A key programme that can be completed after the one year Head Office Apprenticeship is the Rising Star Programme. This is an excellent way to progress within the company as it enables you to progress to further positions, including team leader and management opportunities which I would love to strive for in my future at Hays Travel.
