Ellie Armstrong - Cover Star!
I work at Hays Travel in Cockerton. I have worked there for nearly two years now. I have always enjoyed travelling and have been lucky to have been to many different worldwide destinations with my family. I studied travel and tourism at college for two years and I also have an aviation qualification to be a cabin crew member. Within the branch, we have staff training mornings and I also have different training days regularly to help me keep up to date with my apprenticeship and go towards my qualification at the end of it.
I won a competition to go to Miami and the Bahamas and have a photoshoot and be on the cover of the Travel Weekly magazine in one of the upcoming months. I went in November 2018 with a number of other travel agents from around the UK
We flew from London Heathrow to Miami direct with British Airways and had a pre-night stay before the cruise.
We stayed at the Eden Roc hotel in Miami which was unbelievable. I had a sea view suite to myself it was amazing and very stylish. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend to anyone. The next morning I had my photoshoot around the hotel grounds and got some great shots over looking the beach/sea. A couple hours later, we all boarded the Norwegian Sky cruise ship. It was a four night premium all inclusive cruise - which went from Miami (Florida); Nassau (Bahamas); Great Stirrup Cay (Bahamas); Grand Bahama Island (Bahamas); Miami (Florida).
I had my own balcony cabin on the ship which was great and I would highly recommend to anyone new to cruise to pay that bit extra as it is lovely waking up on a morning and watching the ship sail into the new port. At all of the different cruise ports we had excursions included. In Nassau we had a private tour around the island and learnt about the history there and had some free time to explore the port. We also had the opportunity to go swimming with pigs which was so bizarre but great to say I have done! In Grand Bahama Island we had an excursion around the island and visited a nature and animal reserve.
The trip was just great and I enjoyed every minute and made some great friends! We also all met up in January at the Travel Weekly Globe Awards in London - which is an opportunity I wouldn't have got if it wasn't for the coverstars trip!
