Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Cape Town

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, collect your car hire and drive to Southern Sun Waterfront Hotel, where you will spend the next four nights on a bed and breakfast basis. Sandwiched between the slopes of the iconic Table Mountain and the glistening waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town is often regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

Day 2: Cape Peninsula

This morning, you will be picked up for a full-day guided tour of the Cape Peninsula, which offers some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the world. Drive through Sea Point, the seaside village of Hout Bay (where you can enjoy an optional seal island boat cruise at your own expense), and then on to Cape Point, where it is said that the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. The tour returns to Cape Town by way of Simon's Town, where you will visit the penguin colony at Boulders Beach, Fish Hoek fishing village, and Muizenberg, before being dropped back at your hotel.

Day 3: Cape Town

Take in the sights and sounds of Cape Town today, and explore its rich and diverse culture on an included Cape Walk to Freedom Tour. This tour visits many sites that are significant to South Africa’s history, including Bo Kaap, District Six Museum, and Langa Township. Your day ends with a ferry ride across to Robben Island for a guided tour of the island and the prison where former president, Nelson Mandela, was incarcerated.

Day 4: Cape Town

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Cape Town at your own pace. Why not visit one of the local beaches, take a stroll around the bustling V&A Waterfront, take a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain (own expense) for the most incredible views of the city, or go for a drive along the coast?

Day 5: Cape Town – Stellenbosch

After breakfast, pack up the car and depart Cape Town for Stellenbosch. The drive should take no more than an hour and upon arrival you will check into the Spier Hotel for a two-night stay on a bed and breakfast basis. This picturesque town offers an array of magnificent restaurants, shops, and museums, and is renowned for its beautifully preserved historic buildings (Cape Dutch architecture) and giant leafy oak trees which shade the canal-lined avenues. Your hotel is situated in the historic Spier wine farm and it offers a great range of activities, including wine tasting, Segway tours, eagle encounters, and bicycle rentals to explore the farm.

Day 6: Winelands

Today, you can explore Stellenbosch and the surrounding areas at your own pace. Why not visit some of the other beautiful wine estates in Stellenbosch, or perhaps make your way to Franschhoek and enjoy the Franschhoek Wine Tram (own expense).

Day 7: Stellenbosch – Kapama Game Reserve

This morning, you will check out of your hotel and drive back to Cape Town International Airport. After dropping off your hire car, you will take a flight to the Greater Kruger National Park region for your three-night safari experience. You will be collected from the airport and transferred to Kapama River Lodge, located within Kapama Game Reserve. After check-in, you will have some time to relax before setting off on an evening game, then return to the lodge for dinner. All meals and selected beverages are included during your stay.

Days 8-9: Kapama Game Reserve

Your next two days at Kapama will include morning and evening game drives under the guidance of professional game rangers. It's possible to encounter a large range of wildlife during these game drives, including the Big Five (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and leopard) as well as cheetah, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and plenty of antelope species. There will also be time to relax and enjoy the facilities at the lodge, which include a swimming pool, lounge, bar, library, curio shop, and boma.

Day 10: Return to the UK

After the morning game drive and breakfast, transfer to the airport to begin your journey home.
