Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Cape Town
On arrival into Cape Town Airport, pick up your hire car and drive to your hotel, Southern Sun Waterfront, where you will stay for the next four nights on a bed & breakfast basis. Sandwiched between the slopes of the iconic Table Mountain and the glistening waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town is often regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Enjoy your first night here at leisure to explore at your own pace.

Day 2: Cape Point & Peninsula Tour
This morning, you will be picked up for a full-day guided tour of the Cape Peninsula, offering some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the world. Drive through Sea Point, the seaside village of Hout Bay (where you can enjoy an optional seal island boat cruise at your own expense), and then on to Cape Point, where it is said that the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. The tour returns to Cape Town by way of Simon's Town, where you will visit the penguin colony at Boulders Beach, Fish Hoek fishing village, and Muizenberg, before being dropped back at your hotel.

Day 3: The Winelands
Today, after breakfast, head on a full-day tour that explores the principal wine routes of Paarl, Stellenbosch, and Franschhoek. Start with a visit to Paarl, where you will be struck by the beauty of the valley, the pristine blue sky, the rolling vineyards, and the Pearl of Paarl, set high above the valley. Visit one of the local wine estates for a cellar tour and a spot of wine tasting. From Paarl, the tour continues to the beautiful village of Franschhoek, near the Drakenstein Mountains. Here you will stop for lunch (own expense) and another wine tasting at a local vineyard. After lunch, head to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa and the historic heart of the country's wine region. Explore the town’s beautifully preserved historic buildings and enjoy a final wine tasting before returning to Cape Town.

Day 4: Cape Town
Today, you’ll have the day free in Cape Town to explore at your leisure. Your hotel is ideally located for exploring the nearby V&A Waterfront. You could also venture to the top of Table Mountain, or book an excursion to Robben Island, should time permit.

Day 5: Cape Town – Plettenberg Bay
Today, you’ll check out of your Cape Town accommodation and load up the car for your drive along the picturesque Garden Route. You can reach the Garden Route by travelling inland along the scenic Route 62, or take the N2 highway to travel via the coastal town of Hermanus. Whichever route you take, you will be treated to spectacular scenery. Pass through Knysna, known as the oyster box of South Africa, nestled on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route, then continue on to Plettenberg Bay – your final destination for today. On arrival, check into The Robberg Beach Lodge, for a three-night stay on a bed & breakfast basis.

Days 6-7: Plettenberg Bay
You will have two free days to explore Plettenberg Bay and the surrounding area. Plettenberg Bay is known to attract a multitude of marine species, from the endangered African oystercatcher to juvenile hammerhead sharks and thousands of common dolphins, which come into the bay to feed. Why not partake in a whale and dolphin watching tour with a local tour guide who can provide personalised service and give insight into the wide spectrum of marine life and geology of the area? An array of attractions can be found nearby, including the Monkeyland, Elephant, and Birds of Eden Sanctuaries.

Days 8-9: Plettenberg Bay – Amakhala Hlosi Game Lodge
Your journey continues onto the fantastic Amakhala Hlosi Game Lodge in the Eastern Cape for a two-night stay on a full board basis. En route, perhaps visit Tsitsikamma National Park, which incorporates fifty miles of rocky coastline with spectacular valleys covered in fynbos, but be sure to get to Hlosi Lodge in time for their afternoon game drive. Days here are spent searching for the ‘Big Five’ (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and leopard) and other wildlife with experienced and knowledgeable game rangers. Between these activities, enjoy sumptuous cuisine and relax under the warm African sun. All meals, selected beverages, and two daily game drives are included during your stay.

Day 10: Depart from Port Elizabeth Airport

After the morning activity and breakfast, drive to Port Elizabeth Airport and drop off your hire car before your flight back to the UK, armed with wonderful memories of your South African adventure.
