Holidays in Boston, New England's largest city and on America’s East Coast, are a unique and exciting experience. A city of contrasts, Boston blends colonial charm with urban sophistication, brownstone lined streets and modern skyscrapers, big city entertainment and a small town atmosphere. Boston is a winding network of neighbourhoods and boroughs lining the sprawling Charles River. Enjoy the Freedom Trail – a 3-mile historic walk through Old Boston, marked by a red painted stripe on the brick paths, cobblestones and sidewalks. Places of interest include famous sites of the American Revolution, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere’s House, Harvard University, wealthy Beacon Hill, the thriving harbour, the Boston Tea Party Ship and the Cheers Bar of TV fame. Boston is a shopper’s paradise – pick up a designer bargain in Filene’s basement; window shop around the beautiful shops on Newbury Street; explore the Copley Street and Prudential Centre malls or soak up the atmosphere of Faneuil Hall Market Place and Quincy Market. Boston also has the best restaurants, hotels and nightlife in New England. Escape city life and head for the beaches and pretty villages of Cape Cod or the stylish Newport on Rhode Island. There’s also the nearby town of Salem, site of the infamous 17th century witch trials, to explore. With so much to see and experience in and around Boston, it’s easy to see why a city break in Boston is a popular choice on a holiday to America.
