Date Posted: 24/08/2020

With the help of our partners at Holiday Extras; we’re here to let you know how you can be Covid-secure when it comes to adding extras to your next getaway; such as airport parking, hotels, and more. For every car park and hotel that Holiday Extras sell, their Covid-secure promise means that they will tell you what precautions have been put in place to keep you safe.  For an exciting and stress-free travel experience, read on to find examples from specific suppliers on how you’re going to be kept safe through it all…

What changes have been made?

Parking: Meet & Greet

Taken from case studies of Airparks and Maple Parking

From the minute you arrive in the car park, you can expect safety at the highest level. You’ll notice straight away that the arrivals desks have been fitted with Perspex screens and all staff will be wearing PPE - disposable gloves are changed regularly.  Alcohol-based hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes will be available and an antibacterial spray used to clean all car keys. Some Meet & Greet car parks are even looking into the use of Ziploc bags to avoid the handling of car keys.

You can also rest assured that car park surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected every two hours. Plus, to enable the ease of social distancing, all minibuses will operate at a 50% capacity.

It’s worthwhile knowing that whenever you see the ‘Covid-secure’ stamp on the Holiday Extras website, it means that their parking partner or provider is actively putting in place additional precautions to keep you safe from coronavirus. So, keep an eye out!

Parking: Park & Ride

Taken from case studies of Flying Scot and Low Cost Parking

It’s important to note that some of the Park & Ride car parks are now ‘self park’, so you can distance yourself from other cars on arrival. Social distancing measures and hand sanitising stations are in place and face masks are available free of charge at all offices. To reassure you even further; transfer buses will be deep-cleaned regularly, as well as high contact public areas.

Airport Hotels

Taken from case studies of Hilton hotels, Premier Inn and IHG

There will be no exception to your safety at all airport hotels. When you check in at reception there will be hand sanitiser to greet you and things will be kept short-and-sweet for a faster check in process with minimal contact. Face masks are actively encouraged in communal hotel areas and frequent cleaning of door handles, lift buttons, and switches will be in practice.

After you’ve enjoyed a comfortable stay at your hotel; staff will follow a cleaning checklist to ensure that every new arrival will have a fully-sanitised room.

Airport Lounges

Arriving in the airport lounge is the exciting start that makes everyone’s holiday. An easy, contactless reception is the first difference you’ll notice; followed by table service when it comes to eating and drinking. Furniture has been rearranged to provide you with plenty of space to practice social distancing and relax in comfort. Additionally, hand sanitiser is easily available and there will be frequent cleaning of tables, chairs, glasses, cutlery, and more throughout the day.
