Sea Breeze, South Coast
A newly refurbished, all-inclusive property. We were given the ocean view junior suites and they were absolutely lovely. The rooms were so fresh, modern and spacious with fabulous interior design and a complimentary restocked mini bar and an ocean view to die for!
The breakfast at Sea Breeze was delicious and included a fresh omelette station, fruit salads and fully cooked breakfast - whatever you fancied, you could have. The staff could not do enough to ensure we had a lovely stay, always making sure you we had a refreshment in hand.
We were so lucky to have experienced the chefs table on our first night, which was a wine pairing meal with a very generous five-course menu to sample, along with recommended wines from around the world. It was a very special experience as we watched the chef cook our entire meal for us.
Ocean Two is a B&B property, situated on the beachfront at the very end of St Lawrence Gap. This has a lovely contemporary feel and is great for a quiet week in the sun. The beach is lined with coconut palm trees and in the shallow waters of the beach is a coral reef with plenty of sea life. The bedrooms are all stylish and contemporary with rain showers and fluffy robes.
Turtle Bay was a larger all-inclusive property, aimed more towards a family holiday. The beach was gorgeous, with complimentary non-motorized watersports available. It is also where sea turtles come to lay their eggs each year. Turtle Bay is a very traditional Caribbean property. It’s a short walk from St. Lawrence Gap that has a vibrant nightlife and local restaurants.
Colony Club, West Coast
This hotel is absolutely stunning, situated on the west coast of Barbados. The beach is gorgeous with lots of sunbeds spread out to keep the spacious feeling. They offer an array of activities to suit everybody, from their own garden with cooking classes, to watersports on the beach. It is perfect for those looking for a laid back atmosphere with a luxury feel to it. We were allocated the garden view junior suites, with a lovely Jacuzzi bath and huge four poster beds! Very clean and comfortable.
The hotel offers a complimentary speedboat transfer from the beach to their sister hotel The Tamarind (approx. 15 minutes).
The Tamarind is stunning too, and the beach is gorgeous. We had our lunch on the terrace deck overlooking the beach and the view was something from a post card. The food was superb, offering something for every taste with a la carte dining. This hotel is open plan and caters for both adults and families with a very open and bright feel.
Sandy Lane Hotel
In the evening, we had a hosted evening meal at Sandy Lane hotel. We got a sneak peak of the spa, main pool, bedrooms and bar areas. WOW! This hotel really has it all. It is very luxurious and welcomes some very famous faces each year. We ate at the restaurant, Bajan Blue, which was a buffet, there was also a grilling station serving steaks, freshly caught fish, vegetables and lots of choice for every taste. It was an amazing experience.
This hotel is a hidden gem, perfect for those looking to totally 'disconnect' from the outside world. None of the bedrooms offer a TV and all the areas are quiet. Very antique, boutique style to it with freshly designed bedrooms, from garden view, ocean view, to duplex suites with plunge pools. The restaurant area was all open plan looking over the ocean and complimentary non-motorized watersports available to guests. The gardens here are equally as beautiful as the ocean, giving the hotel a really relaxing feel.
Port Ferdinand is directly on the marina, offering villa style accommodation. This is a great place to stay for a family wanting their own space offering top quality self-catering facilities, while still offering the extra services such as kids clubs, games room, fitness centre, and gym. There is a complimentary speedboat transfer to the sister property, Saint Peters Bay. This hotel is very luxurious, also offering apartment style accommodation. Situated directly on a gorgeous white sandy beach, guests have the choice to spend all day there, or use the large pool, watersports, gym or have a round of golf. We had lunch here and I must say, the food was amazing! Incredible menu with lots of choice and the service was fantastic and very personable.
Fairmont Royal Pavilion
This hotel was my absolute favourite, as soon as you walk in to the lobby, you are welcomed with fresh smells, big smiles and eye catching decor. The whole place holds this super friendly atmosphere but still keeping that luxury feel.
We stayed in the signature ocean view rooms and I was taken aback when I first walked in, the rooms are huge and bright with a massive balcony facing the ocean. The balconies have beautiful day beds on them with table and chairs to enjoy the view as much as you can. The bed was the comfiest bed I have ever slept in; also a very lovely bathroom with all of the expected extras such as bathrobes and slippers. The hotel even had custom made toiletries with our names printed on them! I couldn't believe the attention to detail they paid to every single guest staying with them.
The hotel offers two complimentary yoga classes each week, fitness centre, complimentary watersports, weekly manager cocktail party and much more. This hotel gets 5* for everything! The food was amazing too, for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Perfect place for a honeymoon! Sold usually on a B&B basis, there are options to upgrade to half board.
Waves Hotel & Spa
We then went to visit the beachfront and all-inclusive Waves Hotel & Spa where the rooms are very fresh and spacious with beautiful views of the ocean. As the hotel is all about wellness and health the food options were all healthy and delicious. We were treated to spa treatments in the adult only area which were amazing! If you stay in the adult only spa area, guests are offered a complimentary spa treatment during their stay.
Coral Reef Club
We enjoyed another amazing breakfast at Coral Reef Club, which is a high end hotel offering serious luxury! I was upgraded to the plantation suite which had a large living room area, massive bathroom and bedroom with four poster bed, plunge pool and private bar on your balcony! It was unbelievable and perfect for a couple celebrating something very special.
The staff at Coral Reef were the friendliest people I have ever met, remembering everybody’s names and taking the time to speak to all of their guests. As the staff to guest ratio is so high you are constantly waited on. Our evening meal was a la carte fine dining, accompanied by an amazing soul singer overlooking the ocean. A very romantic place to stay!
Our last night was at The Sand Piper, which is a five minute walk from Coral Reef. This is a boutique property, situated on the beach. The dining experience in the evening was the best I have ever experienced. The staff, food, and atmosphere were perfect. This hotel offers lots of different room types to suit anybody. Ultimate 5* luxury!
