Staff Educational : Elaine Telford MSC Bellissima

Date Posted: 24/04/2019

Elaine works as a travel consultant at our Rustington branch and was lucky enough to win a one-night educational trip on board the brand new, MSC Bellissima, after completing her MSC masters training. This is what she had to say about her experience…

I was curious to see what this ship had to offer and I was not disappointed when I arrived on board. MSC certainly wow-ed me, as soon as I got on board it was beautiful, especially the Swarovski crystal staircase, I could not take my eyes off it. I dropped off my suitcase at my beautiful balcony stateroom and tested out my voice-enabled personal cruise assistant, there to help with everything from restaurant reservations and excursions to checking your bill. Next, I headed to the Posidonia Restaurant for waiter-service lunch. The service, the food, and the drinks options, were faultless.

After lunch I started to explore the ship. First I went to the heart of the ship - the indoor promenade, which is 96 metres long and covered by a spectacular LED sky dome ceiling that changes colour from time to time. Along the indoor promenade there are bars, lounges, and specialty restaurants, including teppanyaki restaurants, American-style steakhouses, boutique shops, Jean-Philippe Maury Chocolaterie, as well as concert and disco venues. At the far end of the indoor promenade is the London Theatre where you can catch a Broadway-style show in the evening.

Next, I went to explore the Kids Club and children’s activities that the ship had to offer. These were amazing and there was something for every age. There is a Baby Club for under 3’s created by Chicco, a Mini Club and Junior Club that have their own play areas and activities designed by LEGO, a Young Club for 12 to 14 year olds and a Teen Club for 15 to 17 year olds. On board they have a full-size bowling lane, F1 simulator, virtual games arcade, virtual reality maze, and interactive cinema. On the same deck they offer a sportplex court where customers can play tennis, basketball, and volleyball. After exploring the kids clubs and activities I went outside to the Arizona Aqua Park, which features four twisting water slides, an 82-metre long suspension bridge, and a range of pools and activities for the family. The ship also has two outdoor pools and an indoor pool. The Atmosphere Pool, one of the outdoor pools, is beautiful, with a massive LED TV which projects beautiful images and a gorgeous pool area where you can relax and have a drink.

I then visited the MSC Yacht Club area where there is a grill and bar which serves snacks throughout the day. These are only available to customers who have booked the Yacht Club suites - which are beautiful and very modern. Following on from the Yacht Club area I went to visit the spa area and thermal area which were also very beautiful and modern. The ship also has a gym and an exclusive solarium for adults only.

Lastly I went to see the different types of cabins: duplex suites (which cover two decks and have a balcony with whirlpool bath), suites (some with balconies and others with corner balconies with whirlpool bath), balcony cabin, ocean view cabin, family cabin (for up to 10 people), inside cabin and inside studio (which are available for solo travellers).

After exploring the ship I went to relax in one of the many bars on board. I chose a couple of cocktails in the sports bar which is located within the casino. After that I went back to my cabin to get glammed up for dinner, which was at the same restaurant where I had my lunch, and again was very good quality. After dinner I went to the London Theatre to see a show which was brilliant - great music and great performances. I then went to the Sky Lounge to have a few drinks and listen to some live music, before joining everyone for a DJ set by Craig David! The next morning I woke early to enjoy some food at the Marketplace Buffet.

I would certainly recommend this ship. It is great for all age groups and for families.
