Antigua has a pleasant year-round climate. The average daily temperature drops a few degrees in winter (December to March) from the usual high of around 81°F (27°C). The island is fairly dry throughout most of the year except during the rainy season (mid-September to November) when daily showers can be expected. Hurricane season runs from June to November and visitors are advised to keep an eye on the weather forecast during this period.
Things to see & do

Holidays in Antigua usually centre round the many sandy beaches, but there's much more to do besides. Try snorkelling and diving and don't miss a boat trip to nearby Barbuda. Adrenaline junkies love the rainforest zip wire, whilst 'Stingray City Antigua', in Seaton's Village, offers an opportunity to interact with stingrays in safe and controlled conditions. Visit historic Nelson's Dockyard in English Harbour with its museum, shops and restaurants and find out more about the island's heritage in the island capital, St John. In August, join the annual carnival, a colourful celebration of life on this laidback island.

Most of the nightlife in Antigua is centred around St John's, although hotels usually provide inhouse entertainment including steel bands, limbo dancers and calypso music. For those who like to dance the night away, there are also a few nightclubs and discos. Shirley Heights is the place to be on a Sunday afternoon to party with the locals theres a barbeque, live steel bands, reggae and great rum punches!

he wide choice of restaurants and bars on Antigua offer international and authentic Caribbean food. The local cuisine is lively and flavoursome and uses locally caught fish and islandgrown vegetables. Fresh local fruits include guava, mango, black pineapple and coconut. All that sugar cane means that rum is a speciality. Many luxury hotels have gourmet menus alongside buffet restaurants and all inclusive establishments offer great value for money and the chance to do all your dining inhouse.
