We are currently working with a charity close to all our hearts, Charlie Bear Cancer Appeal, a charity based in North-East England that supports cancer treatments and provides comfort for families to help ease the burden. We have supported them for the last few years by organising raffles, games, cake sales, and coach trips which has collectively raised more than almost £10,000 for the charity.
It all started from our ‘Santa’s Sack’ appeal at the Great North Children’s Hospital. One year, I was in hospital on Christmas Eve with my son and saw all the children spending Christmas there. A hospital is never a good place to be, especially over the Christmas season. So, we started collecting presents from customers and took these to the hospital to distribute to the kids over Christmas. We’ve done this for six years and receive more donated gifts each year.
We also work closely with our local schools and believe in supporting development of children. We are actively involved with Redesdale Primary School. Every year we go along with the ‘Easter Bunny’ to distribute chocolate eggs. We also donate money to the nursery so they can purchase items to help the children’s skill development. The whole team enjoy our community involvement and it gives us great pleasure knowing that we can help others in less fortunate circumstances.
On top of this, we have supported Walker Central Football Club, to help develop the skills of the local community teams. The aim of the club is to coach children aged 5-16 in a safe and friendly environment, whilst allowing children to progress to their full potential.
