Our chosen charity is the Rowans Hospice, a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of ordinary people suffering from life-limiting illnesses such as cancer. The Rowans helps sufferers to live each day to the full and focus on the important and meaningful aspects of their lives. Services are provided free of charge and so the charity relies upon local support to continue this vital work. Within our small Village of Titchfield we do have a branch of the Rowans Charity shop, which is one of the few shops within our Village and is well supported by our Villagers.
To support The Rowans we held a Coffee Morning, with all staff and families getting involved. We all made various cakes at home on the Sunday for the following days events, and we sold raffle tickets for the couple of weeks prior to, and on the day. As Titchfield is a small village with limited other shops to donate, most of the raffle prizes were donated and created by our Team, apart from the 1st prize which was a Hay’s Voucher for £150. Prizes also included a painting by Samantha our FX lady who is a well known local artist, and a fantastic chocolate bar cake made by Emma’s Mum!
Our little “soiree” was very well supported and we raised an amazing £374.14, which we were delighted to present to our local Rowans Branch Manager and her staff the following day. (We exceeded last year’s event by £75!) We hope to have similar events in the future and continue to support the amazing work being achieved by the Rowans Hospice.
