The beautiful Greek island of Crete is home to the popular resort of Rethymnon. Explore the resort's historical past through its mosques, minarets, museums and Ventian Fortrezza. The narrow streets and old buildings of the Old Town are the perfect contrast to the modern bar and restaurant lined harbour. Holidays in Rethymnon centre around the 12km stretch of beach, that gently shelves down to the sea. You won't have to wander far from your beach deckchair to the restaurants and cafes on the promenade. When the sun goes down, relax with fresh seafood at the Old Harbour and then end your night in one of the many bars dotted around the resort. Late summer vistors can experience the resort's Venetian heritage with the colourful Renaissance Festival. Don't miss a trip on The Yellow Bus that takes you to explore the Cretan countryside, stopping at villages and towns along the way. While the resort of Chania and the Cretean capital Heraklion are within exploring distance too. If you're looking for a laid-back beach break with family or friends, why not choose a holiday in Rethymnon this summer.
