Tenerife

Holidays in Tenerife offer a fascinating combination of arid desert, dramatic volcanoes, lunar landscape, stunning coastlines and lush forests. The mountains divide the island into the north and south: the north is dotted with traditional whitewashed villages and banana plantations, while the south buzzes with the influx of tourism.

Overview

The volcanic Mount Teide is the highest mountain in Tenerife, and the third largest volcano on the planet, standing 3,781 metres above sea level. Visitors can explore the breathtaking scenery of Teide National Park and take the cable car to the top of the Mount Teide.
Tenerife's capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is known for its beautiful golden beaches, busy port, long harbour, and magnificent museums. Holidays in Tenerife include popular excursions, such as: glass-bottom boat trips, ferries to the secluded island of La Gomera, fun days out at Aquapark Octopus, Tenerife Zoo and the Eagles Park, trips to the dramatic Acantilados de los Gigantes, 'Cliffs of the Giants', and Playa San Juan's Wednesday Farmer's market.

Holidays in Tenerife are particularly popular in the south of the island with its hot, dry conditions. The low-key Los Cristianos is known for its pretty harbour, traditional Spanish cuisine, and charming old town. The former fishing village of Puerto De La Cruz offers spectacular views of Mount Teide, and a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Playa De Las Americas is perfect for those with bundles of energy and enthusiasm. During the day tourists can try their hand at a wealth of water sports, and after dark tour the bars, pubs and pulsating nightclubs

Weather.

The Weather on Tenerife changes considerably depending on your location.
The warmest climate can be found on the south and west sides of the island. But, if you go near El Teide, cold winds and snow wouldn't be hard to find.
Tenerife features the lowest temperature 'difference' between summer and winter for anywhere in the world. Our weather occasionally includes rain, but there is no specific 'rainy season'. Air conditioning is quite rare, with overhead fans usually providing sufficient air movement to stay cool, even at the height of summer. The minimum and maximum annual average air temperatures in Tenerife are about 15C in winter and 24C in summer.
