Further afield there's the inland fortified city of Mdina, the catacombs at Rabat or the Grand Harbour at Valletta to explore. Join in the local village fiestas in the summer months, with processions and fireworks to enjoy. Qawra enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with long hot summers and mild winters. Average daily temperatures are 20C, but with the thermometer often hitting 30C at the height of the summer. In the winter months you can still enjoy 5 to 6 hours of sunshine daily, but there is a chance of a rain shower.

There are so lots of things to see and do on a holiday in Qawra. Sunbathing and watersports are top of the list for daytime fun. Explore the surrounding rocks and coves on a diving or snorkelling trip. Take a boat trip out to the neighbouring islands of Comino and Gozo. Discover the local countryside and coastal paths on foot or on horseback. Visit Ghadira Nature Reserve at nearby Mellieha Bay, home to over 200 species of birds, wild rabbits and chameleons. Explore the island's coastline and marine life on a glass bottom boat trip.

The nightlife in Qawra is as laidback as the resort itself. There are a good choice of bars and nightspots to enjoy, although a tasty meal in a seafront restaurant is where the Qawra excels. For a livelier night, head to the neighbouring resort of Buggiba with its bustling bars and nightclubs.
