Menorca's hot summers make it a popular choice with UK holidaymakers. The summer season runs from May to October, with the highest temperatures and least rainfall in June, July, August and September. Spring and autumn are great times to explore the island, with mild temperatures and less crowds making it easy and pleasant to get around.
Things to see & do

As well as the obvious sunbathing, holidays in Menorca are the ideal time to enjoy water sports, golf, sailing, tennis and horse riding. For a fun family day out, visit one of the island's popular water parks. If you can tear yourself away from the beautiful beaches, you'll find a good choice of excursions: Head to Mount Toro, with the 17th century Sanctuary of the Mare de Deu del Toro at its peak, or Mahon, the pretty island capital. There are Gothic churches, monuments, fortresses, prehistoric remains, smart harbours and Neolithic towns scattered around the island. For great seafood, visit the harbour town of Cuidadela or fishing village Fornells, or bag handcrafted leather goods and jewellery in market towns Alaior and Es Mercadal. There's plenty to keep sports enthusiasts, shopaholics, nature lovers and culture vultures happy on holiday in Menorca.

Nightlife in Menorca is fairly low key. Many of the hotels have their own inhouse entertainment and you'll find a good selection of bars and pubs to enjoy in the larger resorts. For stylish wine bars and bars, head to the cities of Mahon and Cuidadela.

Food & drink

Freshly caught Mediterranean fish is a Menorcan speciality, as are traditional Spanish dishes. Still, in larger resorts, you'll find a good range of international restaurants, catering to plenty of tastes. Many hotels offer half board or allinclusive options, so you don't even need to leave your hotel for dinner.
