Holidays in Maspalomas, on the southern tip of the Canary Island of Gran Canaria, mean only one thing - chilling out on the beaches in the hot sunshine. And what beaches they are too - the 6kms of soft white blue-flag sands are joined by the spectacular undulating sand dunes. Famous the world over, the Maspalomas dunes are home to rare species of flora and fauna and a favourite haunt for nudists too. Away from the sands, you'll find plenty to entertain you, with everything from theme parks to golf courses to shopping close at hand. And when it comes to eating out, the Faro area around the lighthouse has a stretch of al fresco restaurants to tempt your tastebuds. Take a walk along the promenade or over the sand dunes to the neighbouring resort of Playa del Ingles. Add in a good choice of accommodation and year-round sunshine and it's easy to see why a holiday in Maspalomas is a popular choice!

The weather in Gran Canaria is warm and sunny almost all year round, with temperatures ranging from 24 to 28 degrees in the summer to 19 to 21 degrees in the winter. Summers are generally dry everywhere on the island, although the northern half tends to have more cloud cover. In Winter, the difference between the north and south is even more pronounced, with the southern resorts often a few degrees warmer than Las Palmas November and December are the rainiest months, but the long, warm days mean Gran Canaria's still a great destination for winter sunshine.
