Egypt's desert climate makes it a popular year-round choice for sun seekers. Temperatures peak well above the thirties in summer and in the mid twenties in winter. There's hardly ever rain, but the temperature does tend to drop in the evenings. The best time to visit most sights, including the pyramids and the Valley of the Kings, is from February to April and October to November. During these months, the heat reminds you that it's the "Land of the Sun", but it's not too hot.
Things to see & do

The most popular activities to do on a Luxor holiday are camel riding, felucca riding, caleche trips and ballooning. Explore Cairos ancient sites or spend the day shopping in the shops and bazaars for locally made products such as shawls, carpets, glass and gold and silver jewellery. Take to the Nile on a boat trip or for golfers theres the 18hole Royal Valley Golf Club with stunning views across Luxors West Bank.

Food & drink

There are many traditional restaurants and cafes to tempt your taste buds in Luxor. Egyptian cuisine combines many of the best traditions of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cooking. Local specialities include stuffed vine leaves, falafel, koshari and kebabs. Although Egypt is a Muslim country, alcohol is available in cafestyle bars, hotels and many restaurants in larger towns, cities and resorts.
