Things To Do

With over 60 beaches on Skiathos, you’ll be spoilt for choice on which one to choose to spend your days. The crystal clear waters surrounding the island are just perfect for snorkelling. Visit the Kounistras Monastery, the Evangilistria Monastery or take a boat excursion to the caves of Galatzia, Haliki and Skotini. Explore the neighbouring island of Skopelos where the Mama Mia was filmed.There is a regular bus service that runs up and down the main roads during the summer months. Scooters are also available for hire. The island is particularly popular with hikers and bikers who come to explore the lush mountainous island.

Food & Drink

You’ll find a good selection of restaurants on Skiathos from local tavernas to international eateries. Locally caught fish and seafood is a popular choice. Start your meal with a mezze of appetisers including taramosalata, tzatziki and dolmades and follow with traditional Greek favourites of mousakka or calamari with baklava or Greek yoghurt with honey for dessert. The infamous ouzo or locally made wines make a perfect accompaniment to your meal.
