Slovenia

Golden beaches, snow-topped mountains, medieval towns, waterside fishing villages and endless forests are what holidays in Slovenia are all about. Nestling on 46kms of Adriatic Sea coastline, between Croatia in the south and Italy in the north, Slovenia is the perfect choice for a laid-back beach holiday in the summer, while the nearby alpine ski resorts are the places to head in the winter-time. Slovenia's coastline is home to pretty seaside towns including Piran, Portoroz, Izola and Koper, while the mountain resorts of Vogel Bohinj, Kranyska Gora, Terme Zrece and Bled are tops for skiing. Dine on Mediterranean favourites or the locally-caught seafood in a beachside restaurant when the sun goes down or tuck into hearty stews and mulled wine after a day on the slopes. Explore medieval Bled Castle, sitting high on a rock overlooking Bled Lake and its surrounding forests, and there’s also the magical Postonjna Caves to discover. Shop til you drop in lively capital Ljubljana with its designer shops and boutiques. With so much to offer year-round, it’s easy to see why holidays in Slovenia are a popular choice.
