Poland

Holidays in Poland, at the heart of Eastern Europe, offer everything from sandy beaches and crystal clear lakes to snow-topped mountains and rolling countryside together with lots of beautiful cities to explore. Whether you choose the Baltic seaside, the Tatra Mountains, the Mazury Lakes or the Bialowieza forest, you’re sure to have a great time in Poland. Vibrant Warsaw, Poland’s capital city, has its Old Town, Royal Castle, Palace of Culture & Science and the popular Mokotowskie Park to explore. The picturesque medieval city of Krakow is where you’ll find Krakow Castle, Europe’s largest central square, the Old Town and the Jewish district of Kazmierz, with the must-visit Auschwitz concentration camp a short ride outside the city. The Northern city of Gdansk has a strong cultural heritage and fine architecture including its Golden Gate, Town Hall and Artus Court, not forgetting the famous shipyards. The seaside town of Sopot, 20 minutes from Gdansk, is the place to head in the summer months with its soft sandy beaches alongside its Baltic coastline. Holidays in Poland are good value for money and, with easy access via cheap flights from the UK, Poland is becoming a popular choice for British travellers year-round.

Things To Do
There are many things to see and do in Poland. Take a hike and explore Poland's national parks and nature reserves. Situated 60km west of Krakow, the thought-provoking Auschwitz & Birkenau Memorial and Museum is must-visit site as is the Salt Mines of Wieliczka on the outskirts of the city. Take a stroll through the Lazienki Park in Warsaw or, for music lovers’, enjoy the city’s Chopin Museum or for an unforgettable view, take an elevator to the 30th floor observation deck of the Palace of Culture and Science. Find out more about the Solidarity movement at the Roads to Freedom exhibition near the Gdansk shipyards. A pirate style boat from the shipyards to the seaside town of Sopot is a must during the summer months. In the winter months enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride.
Food & Drink
There are restaurants to suit every taste in Poland, serving everything from international cuisine to local Polish favourites, all washed down with tasty Polish beer and, of course, vodka. You've not really been to Poland until you've had a plate full of ‘pierogi’ (boiled dumplings) or tried one of the rich and thick local soups. Trout, carp and herring are popular fish dishes. Polish cakes make a delicious end to your meal including 'szarlotka' (apple cake), 'sernik' (cheesecake), 'piernik' (honey cake), 'makowiec' (poppy seed cake) and 'paczki' (donuts).
In The Evening
Poland has a great selection of night-life to enjoy. The best places for clubbing are Warsaw, Wrowclaw, Krakow and Gdansk. There’s a large choice of dance clubs, bars and venues for live music in most towns. If you go in the summer, the coastal resorts such as Sopot, Miedzyzdroje and Mielno are the places to be.
