Laganas

Zante's largest and liveliest resort is home to a long sweep of sandy beach and a long strip of bars and clubs. Holidays in Laganas are about late night parties and days spent chilling out. No wonder they're so popular with the young and lively set, who flock here every summer. Cocktail and karaoke bars, restaurants, pubs, clubs and discos all line the main strip that leads down to the sea.

The bay is home to endangered loggerhead turtles who lay their eggs on the sand at night. Most accommodation is in simple style, in bed and breakfast hotels or self-catering apartments. A handful of four star all inclusive properties are located far enough from the main strip for families to be able to enjoy the gently-shelving beach without being kept awake by the rowdy crowds.

Things To Do
Holidays in Laganas usually centre around the beach. If you can tear yourself away from your sun lounger, there are plenty of boat trips and water sports to choose from. Hire a pedalo and look out for turtles, ride a jet ski or go parasailing. Take a trip to Luna Fun Par in Tsilivi and try out laser quest, paintballing, rock climbing and rodeo bull-riding. Don't miss a boat trip to Smuggler's Cove, Greece's most photographed beach: the sea is Caribbean-blue and there's a run-aground ship washed up on the white sand.
Food & Drink
There's no shortage of places to eat out in Laganas. The small tavernas serve traditional Greek cuisine, but you'll also find fast food joints, Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants. Fresh fruit, ice creams and drinks are served along the beach during the day. After dark, the many bars of Laganas are one of its main attractions.
In The Evening
Chose from cheesy cocktail bars and cool clubs on one of the busiest party strips in Europe. There's something in Laganas for every kind of reveller, from karaoke and pop to Hed Kandi and laser shows. Party all night and stay up to watch the stunning sunrise from the beach. Laganas nightlife gets busier every year – it's easy to see why it's one of Britain's favourite holiday hotspots.
