L'Estartit

Estartit is located in the Spanish region of Catalonia at the northern end of the Costa Brava. This small and very pretty family resort nestles at the foot of the impressive Montgri mountain range, overlooked by a 13th century castle. Estartit's position, between the mountains and the plain of the River Ter, blends 15kms of beautiful rocky coastline with one of the longest sandy beaches on the Costa Brava. The resort is popular with watersports enthusiasts, snorkellers and divers, with several schools offering tuition and scuba diving among the coral reefs. Facing the beach you’ll find the Islas Medas, a chain of nature reserve islands perfect to explore on a glass-bottom boat trip. Estartit’s attractive marina is home to many good restaurants and bars and is the place to go in the evenings.

Things To Do
Days in Estartit centre around its stunning beach – relax and enjoy sunbathing or try out the range of water sports on offer including windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving and snorkelling. Explore the rocky coastline and marine life on a boat trip. For the children, the seaside funfair will keep them happy for hours. For golfers, there are many courses to tackle on the Costa Brava.
Food & Drink
Estartit is a great place to dine out with a wide choice of restaurants to choose from serving international and local food. Tapas, paella and freshly caught fish and seafood feature widely on menus. For dessert, there’s ‘crema catalana’ – a rich egg custard topped with caramelised sugar. Traditional Sangria and the region’s Torres wines and cavas such as Freixenet and Codorniu always go down well.
In The Evening
Estartit is essentially a family resort and its night-life reflects this. There are a few lively bars with music and a couple of discos that are open until late. Much of the evening entertainment is hotel-based. For a quiet night take a walk to the Marina and enjoy a meal and drink looking out to sea.
