Kalamata is the capital and main port of the Messinia region of the Peloponnese on the Greek mainland and is famous for its long beaches, fine olives and delicious honey. Things To Do

The marina in Kalamata offers many boat trips, with fishing, sailing and windsurfing all popular activities. Explore the Benekeion Archaelogical Museum, the Byzantine Church, the Castle of Kalamata and the Railway Museum. Regular ferries also leave Kalamata Port for the Greek Island of Crete in the summer months. Explore the beautiful countryside around the resort on foot, by bike or on horseback.

Food & Drink

There are plenty of places to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat in Kalamata. The town centre and beachfront has a good mix of modern and traditional restaurants, cafes and bars, while the streets in between the two have many restaurants to enjoy the ‘menu of the day’.
