Kalithea

On the East coast of the Greek island of Rhodes, you’ll find the resort of Kalithea. It's easy to see why holidays in Kalithea are so popular - boasting a beautiful setting and some of the best hotels in the whole of Rhodes, Kalithea certainly lives up to its translation “great view”. With hills as a backdrop, the resort's cove is ringed with sand and shingle beaches with a good selection of water sports to enjoy including scuba diving. Kalithea is also a popular choice for weddings and honeymoons. A quiet beachside meal with a drink is the norm in the evening – for more lively pursuits head to the town of Faliraki. The island’s capital Rhodes Town is only a 10km ride away, a great place to go shopping or to take a walk along the ancient ramparts. Also not to be missed is the East Coast town of Lindos, an unspoilt village of whitewashed houses, which sits beneath the Acropolis and its old castle. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat away from the crowds, then a holiday Kalithea is the perfect choice for you.

Things To Do
Holidays in Kalithea are packed with things to see and do. The sand and shingle beaches around the bay are perfect for sunbathing and relaxing. If you’re looking for more active pursuits, why not explore the local marine life on a scuba diving trip. Visit the picturesque island of Symi, take an East Coast cruise or a day-trip to Turkey. Faliraki Waterpark, with its water slides and pools, is just a short ride away and is a favourite with children.
Food & Drink
You’ll find a good choice of places to dine out in Kalithea, whether its international fare, fast food or traditional Greek food, you’ll find them all in the resort. Why not sample the traditional food on the menu in the tavernas – start your meal with a meze of appetisers including taramosalata, tzatziki and dolmades and follow with traditional Greek favourites of mousakka or calamari with baklava for dessert. Aniseed-flavoured Ouzo and island’s own wines including Chevaliers de Rhodes, IIios and Archontiko are a good accompaniment to your meal.
In The Evening
The nightlife in Kalithea is low key, with one disco and a few bars, but Faliraki is only a short taxi ride away for a night of partying. For a sophisticated night out though, Rhodes Town’s old quarter is packed with classy restaurants, bouzouki clubs and trendy bars, not to mention a casino and the new part of Rhodes Town has approx 600 discos and bars to choose from.
