Things To Do
Hurghada offers world-class snorkelling and dive sites and glass-bottomed boats allow holidaymakers to see the underwater sights without getting wet. Other water sports include sailing, yachting, windsurfing and deep-sea fishing. Holidays in Hurghada offer a wealth of nearby sightseeing excursions: take a jeep safari or camel ride in the desert, enjoy day trips to nearby islands, or take overnight excursions to the fascinating historical sights at Cairo and Luxor.
Food & Drink
Many visitors to Hurghada choose a value-for-money all-inclusive package and eat at their hotel, but there are plenty of restaurants to choose from too. With a good mix of local cuisine, international restaurants and even fast food, Hurghada has places to eat to suit every taste and budget. Egyptian specialities include koushari, kofta and kebabs. Although Egypt is a Muslim country, alcohol is available in cafe-style bars, hotels and many restaurants. A favourite Egyptian pastime is wiling away the hours in a coffee-house (ahwa) over a game of backgammon and a sheesha - waterpipe. Tea is served in glasses and comes dark and impossibly sweet; the same is true with coffee, which is taken in the Turkish style.
In The Evening
Central Hurghada offers an increasingly lively nightlife scene, with a good choice of bars and clubs. Most hotels have their own discos and entertainment including belly dancing and local folklore shows.
