Things To Do
Holidays in Almerimar revolve around its many blue-flag beaches. Many sports and other facilities are available on the beaches including wind surfing, kite surfing, hang-gliding, pedal boats and jet skis and, during the high season, the town holds many beach sporting events including football and beach volleyball tournaments. Cycling and horse riding are also popular, whilst boat excursions depart regularly from the marina, taking tourists on deep-sea fishing tours. You can also go mountain biking and walking in the famous Alpujarras mountain range.
Food & Drink
Most of the restaurants are to be found around Almerimar’s marina. There are many good quality low-cost restaurants where an excellent "menu del dia" or a three-course meal can be enjoyed. Try the local tapas like spicy prawns, mussels, "chorizo" sausage and "albondigas" (meatballs)in tomato sauce. The freshly caught fish and seafood are also not to be missed. A glass of local wine or traditional sangria or cava make a pleasant accompaniment to your meal.
In The Evening
When the sun goes down, Almerimar’s marina is the place to head, with most of the hottest nightspots close by. There are also a number of British and Irish bars as well as one or two more upmarket wine bars. The last two weeks of August are a great time to visit when the town’s annual fair takes place and the streets become alive with music, dancing, processions and bull running.
