Puerto de la Cruz

To the north of the Canary Island of Tenerife,in the Orotava Valley, you'll discover the resort of Puerto de la Cruz. The north of the island is divided from the livelier southern holiday resorts by the Mount Teide National Park. Puerto de la Cruz enjoys a lush green backdrop with many flowering bushes and trees, while its historical town centre has buildings dating back to the 17th century. A holiday in Puerto de la Cruz wouldn't be complete without spending time at the stunning Lido Martianez - designed by the famous architect Cesar Manrique, its facilities include: seven pools, a huge fountain, a jacuzzi, playground and restaurants, there's even an underground dance hall and casino. Playa Jardin to the west of the resort is the perfect spot for surfing or relaxing under a palm tree. Add in an abundance of accommodation, coupled with year round warm sunshine, and it's easy to see why holidays in Puerto de la Cruz are so popular.

Things To Do
Holidays in Puerto de a la Cruz are packed with things to do. Aside from the Lido Martinez and the beaches, there are many attractions on Tenerife to enjoy. There's Siam Park, a recently opened themed water park with animals as well as water rides. The children’s jungle area is also very popular. Loro Park has some very beautiful birds as well as a host of other animals. Animals are kept in habitats that closely resemble their natural surroundings. Shopping is a breeze too, with many bargains to be had such as perfumes, electronics and alcohol.
Food & Drink
The high quality of restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz can not be denied. Although there are English pubs serving the usual pub fare, and there is one fast food outlet, the vast majority of eating places are small family run restaurants serving excellent food.
In The Evening
The area around Avenida de Colon is most popular with the young and those looking for a lively night scene. Here bars with dance floors and discos remain open until the early hours of the morning. There are many quiet restaurants where couples can enjoy a relaxed meal in pleasant surroundings. Don't miss town's vibrant and colourful carnival each July.
