New York

New York's Manhattan skyline is the most iconic in the world. Made up of 5 boroughs – The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island - the best way to get around New York is in a traditional Yellow Cab or zip from A to B on the New York Metro or during the day it’s often quicker on foot! New York plays host to year-round events - from the St Patrick’s Day and Easter Parades, the Tribeca Film Festival in April, the July 4th Fireworks, to the Halloween Parade and the New York Marathon in the autumn. Or why not plan a pre-Christmas shopping trip and enjoy the ice-skating rink at the Rockerfeller Centre or see the huge ball dropping in Times Square to mark the arrival of another year! The perfect year round destination with direct flights from major UK cities to JFK or Newark airports.

Things To Do
To coin a phrase, you can shop until you drop. Visit Macy’s and Bloomingdales to pick up all the hot designer labels, window-shop on 5th Avenue or for cut-price designer bargains head south to Century 21 or take a ride out of the city to the Woodbury Common outlet. Scale the dizzy heights of the Empire State Building to get the best view. Experience some culture in the Museum of Modern Art. Take a horse and carriage around Central Park. Go celeb-spotting in Greenwich Village. Take to the water to see the Statue of Liberty up close or visit Ellis Island and follow in the footsteps of the 12 million immigrants who entered the U.S.A. through its golden door. To see the Big Apple from the skies, take whistle stop tour in a helicopter. On dry land, a hop-on/hop off double decker tour is also an ideal way to see city’s leading attractions.
Food & Drink
A United Nations of flavours awaits in New York from touristy Italian fare in Little Italy to sizzling Chinese food in Chinatown. Enjoy an authentic Pizza cooked in the coal-fired ovens of Grimaldi’s, under the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge, reputed to be Frank Sinatra’s favourite! The Meatpacking District is full of bistros and brasseries whilst the East Village has lots of snack joints and budget restaurants. Chelsea is the scene of much of Manhattan's hippest cuisine with Tribeca, SoHo and the West Village the best places for true food-lovers. Oysters are a passion with New Yorkers, taste them at the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station. Join the locals when the sun goes down and sip the infamous Cosmopolitan cocktail, originally created in 1930’s New York!
In The Evening
New York is of course the ‘City that never sleeps’ and it’s easy to see why. Catch one of the latest shows on Broadway and afterwards enjoy the bright lights of Times Square. Looking for a good laugh, then pay a visit to one of the many comedy clubs featuring both big names and up-and-coming comedians. Go celebrity spotting at trendy hotspots such as the 40/40 Club or check out great live music at the Bowery Ballroom or Beacon Theatre. Two of the hottest nightclubs are Pacha Club NYC in Hell’s Kitchen and the popular Marquee NYC.
