Seated along Cyprus' Coast, Larnaca is widely regarded as the gateway to the east coast resorts of Ayia Napa and Protaras - but there's plenty on offer in Larnaca itself to keep even the most demanding holidaymaker happy! From exploring underwater shipwrecks, perusing the local markets or sampling the nightlife, there's something for everyone on a holiday to Larnaca. Fortunately, spending your summer basking in Larnaca's 27 degree heat is within very easy reach, as flights are around five hours long from most UK airports.

Central to Larnaca's many attractions is its beach, fully loaded with gripping water sports. To those with a penchant for diving, there's a multitude of underwater sites and shipwrecks to explore including the fascinating Zenobia Ferry Wreck. But, if swimming's not for you, kick back and relax on a scenic boat trip from the infamous Larnaca harbour, and discover the striking beauty of the island's coastline.

Alternatively, travel further inland and ride horseback through the forest paths to discover breath-taking gorges and mountains. Or, perhaps you'd prefer to indulge in some Cypriot culture, with a visit to the ancient Larnaca Fort and Saint Lazarus Church. We particularly recommend venturing to the outskirts of town to see the Muslim shrine and mosque of Hala Sultan Tekke!

You could even while away the summer days treating yourself in Larnaca's designer boutiques and local markets, where you can source traditional lace, pottery and jewellery. Or if you're taking a holiday to Larnaca with your family, head to the Camel Park in the nearby Mazotos village where children can enjoy a camel ride! Or you could even stretch further afield to the famously lively resort of Ayia Napa, where you can cool off in one of their many water parks such as Waterworld.

As the days draw to a close, you may want to pop out for some local cuisine. Try a taverna where you can tuck in to a traditional mezze meal, or opt for one of Larnaca's Greek, Turkish, Lebanese, Italian, French and British restaurants. Then, why not round off your day with an evening of sipping cocktails by the palm-tree lined Finikoudes promenade?
