Whitewashed buildings, beaches and sunshine are what holidays in Lagos are all about. Located on Portugal's Algarve coastline, 10 miles west of Portimao and 50 miles west of Faro aiport, Lagos is the perfect mix of a bustling port, lively market town and a beach resort. The Old Town, reminiscent of a postcard scene with its white buildings and brightly coloured flower beds, is full of narrow streets lined with shops, bars and restaurants. Lagos boasts several fine sandy beaches, with the most popular being Meia Praia to the east of the town and the easy-access Porto do Mos beach. Golfers will be spoilt for choice, with a number of excellent sea-view courses available in the area. Enjoy some retail therapy in the local boutiques and craft shops, while the marina is a favourite place to spend the evening, with its many bars and restaurants. So, if you're looking to get away with family or friends, why not catch a flight to Faro this summer and enjoy a sunshine holiday in Lagos.

The weather in the Algarve is warm all year round. This part of Portugal enjoys approximately 300 days of sunshine annually, with reasonably steady temperatures. However, on most days of the year, there is a light breeze from the west. The Spring and Autumn months offer the type of weather for exploring and touring. The hot months of July and August are strictly for sun-lovers. If you decide to visit this area in winter you will be pleasantly surprised to find you will probably only need a fleece or light jacket. As for rainfall, December to February are the wettest months. But the good news is that the rain only tends to fall for an hour or so – unlike the constant drizzle in the UK!
