Egypt's desert climate makes it a popular year-round choice for sun seekers. Temperatures peak well above the thirties in summer and in the mid twenties in winter. There's hardly ever rain, but the temperature does tend to drop in the evenings. The best time to visit most sights, including the pyramids and the Valley of the Kings, is from February to April and October to November. During these months, the heat reminds you that it's the ‘Land of the Sun', but not too hot to be enjoyable.
Things to see & do

Hurghada holidays offer holidaymakers worldclass snorkelling and dive sites while a glassbottomed boat trip allows you to see the underwater sights without getting wet. Other water sports available include sailing, yachting, windsurfing and deepsea fishing. Holidays in Hurghada offer a wealth of nearby sightseeing excursions: take a jeep safari or camel ride in the desert, enjoy day trips to nearby islands, or take overnight excursions to the fascinating historical Egyptian cities of Cairo and Luxor.

Central Hurghada boasts a lively nightlife scene, with a good choice of bars and clubs. Most hotels have their own discos and entertainment including belly dancing and local folklore shows.

Food & drink

Many visitors to Hurghada choose a valueformoney allinclusive package and eat at their hotel, but there are plenty of restaurants to choose from too. With a good mix of local cuisine, international restaurants and even fast food, Hurghada has places to eat to suit every taste and budget. Egyptian specialities include koushari, kofta and kebabs. Although Egypt is a Muslim country, alcohol is available in cafestyle bars, hotels and many restaurants. A favourite Egyptian pastime is wiling away the hours in a coffeehouse (ahwa) over a game of backgammon and a sheesha waterpipe. Tea is served in glasses and comes dark and impossibly sweet; the same is true with coffee, which is taken in the Turkish style.
