Puerto Del Carmen lies on the southeast coast of Lanzarote, it is set below a range of steep hills on the south coast of Lanzarote.

Who goes there?
Mainly families, young couples,occasionally groups of older teenagers and those in their early 20s, Ideal for all ages looking for fun in the sun. However Puerto Del Carmen is not classed as a rowdy resort.

Shopping
Puerto Del Carmen is packed with shops of all kinds, ranging from duty-free electrical stores and tourist stalls along The Strip to the clothes shops and boutiques in the Old Town. There is a Sunday market in Teguise, which is worth a visit, a taxi would cost approximately 14 Euro each way.

Nightlife
Puerto Del Carmen is the main nightlife spot on the island and most evenings it is lively as tourists from other resorts come to enjoy its bars and clubs. The strip includes a number of English, Irish and Scottish. The Centre Atlantico is the place to go for cocktail bars and can be a good spot to start the evening. Serious clubbers may prefer Caesars. There are also a variety of live music venues and karaoke bars.

Restaurants/Cuisine
Most restaurants are on The Strip, they serve everything from local cuisine to fast food, as well as Chinese, Mexican and Indian food. There are many fine restaurants near the harbour in the Old Town.

Money
There a number of banks in Puerto Del Carmen, where money can be exchanged, there are also various exchange facilities in the resort.

Activities
Many activities are available here, both on land and in the water. For those who enjoy a challenge there are a number of diving schools and windsurfing centers in Puerto Del Carmen. For the more energetic; swimming, cycling and running are also very popular, with various bike hire shops along the strip.All of the common water sports are available at the beach and work is now well under way on the new golf course, just outside of Puerto Del Carmen on the Road to Tias.
