The weather is just one of the reasons why Elounda holidays are so loved. Crete is the most southerly of the Greek Islands, meaning it enjoys longer summers and plenty of sunshine. Peak season highs often go over 30 ºC in June, July and August. Winters in Elounda are wet and mild.
Things to see & do

Holidays in Elounda are mainly about relaxing and taking in the atmosphere at the harbour. Still, theres plenty of waterbased action to be had in the form of watersports, snorkelling and diving. And, if you fancy some sightseeing, dont miss a boat trip to historic Spinalonga Island, or a visit to the spectacular Palace of Knossos. For a change of scenery, sail off on a day trip to stunning Santorini. If youre in search of thrills and spills, book and excursion to one of Cretes excellent water parks.

For families and couples, the nightlife scene in Elounda offers the perfect mix. In the evenings, the square comes alive with atmospheric pavement cafes and music bars, but theres nothing too rowdy. If you want to step things up a notch and have a loud, late night, hop in a cab to busy Agios Nikolaos, 10km away.

Food & drink

Theres no shortage of places to eat and drink in Elounda. Around the harbour, its all catch of the day, whilst the main square has a great mix of restaurants, offering everything from fast food to international eateries and Greek cuisine. Its worth taking a trip to hillside village Plaka, where locally farmed olives and wine and traditional tavernas are in abundance.
