Ski Holidays in Zermatt

Zermatt benefits from all year round snow, it is located in a beautiful valley and there is a no cars policy in the village, the resort is very up-market and there are a number of quality hotels. The location of Zermatt means that it is linked with the Italian ski resort of Cervinia, so if you enjoy a little exploring then this is perfect for you.There are around 60 runs in Zermatt to keep you occupied, 11 of these are advanced runs, 33 intermediate and 16 beginner, cross country skiing is also popular in Zermatt and with 70 lifts you will find getting around easy.

The nightlife in Zermatt leaves nothing to be desired, there is a great range of cafes and bars to choose from and if you are looking for a break from skiing or snowboarding then there are a variety of activities on offer. It may feel strange being in a car-free environment, with electric taxis and horse drawn sleighs as transport but the beauty of the village will soon make you realise it is a great atmosphere without all the hustle and bustle of traffic.

Who goes there?
The resort of Zermatt caters for all but more experienced skiers will fell most comfortable as there are more intermediate and advanced runs in the ski area.

Nightlife, food and drink:
There are approximately 91 restaurants in Zermatt serving French, Italian, Traditional and US cuisine and for the fast food lovers there are a selection of fast food restaurants. The nightlife in Zermatt covers everything from a few quiet drinks in a bar to a lively night ending the evening in a nightclub; there are 5 nightclubs to choose from and around 30 bars so you will certainly find the perfect place to suit your needs.

Skiing:
Beginners – You will find several broad and safe stretches ideal for learning, but if you are a timid learner then maybe Zermatt is not for you, it is better suited to the learners who are looking for a challenge and a thrill.

Intermediate – You will find a wealth of terrain varying from vast open snowfields to gun down forest motorways, the runs in Zermatt are extremely long and varied, there are consistently good snow conditions from December to April, and the slopes in Zermatt will keep you delighted and entertained.

Advanced – Zermatt if quite famous for its advanced skiing, you can begin your day with some speed skiing then move onto some of the most famous mogul fields in Europe, for the adventurous there are chutes and steep forested gullies and there is also a large amount of off piste activity to explore with a guide.

Snowboarding:
There is plenty of open terrain for boarders in Zermatt, there are two snowboard parks and two man made half pipes, one in Blauherd and the other between Trockner Steg and Furgg, 99% of pistes in Zermatt welcome snowboarders and boards are also welcome on all lifts.

Off the Slopes:
There is a huge amount of off the slope activity in Zermatt such as; Snowshoeing, ice climbing, hiking, tubing, ice skating, sleigh rides, swimming, curling, bowling, fitness centre, heli-skiing and paragliding. Shopaholics with adore the large amount of beautiful little boutiques and stylish shops.

Flights and Transfers: Transfers from Sion airport are around 1 hour and 30 minutes and from Geneva airport approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. The average flight time from the UK should be around 1hour and 30 minutes.
