
The pretty resort of Zell am See lies on the shores of Austria’s most scenic lake. Its offer fantastic intermediate skiing backed up by the snow-sure glacial skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn at nearby Kaprun.
Ideal for those seeking a characteristic little town, it has a traffic free pedestrianised centre with excellent shopping and an excellent array of wine bars and restaurants. The ‘Europe Sport’ region has an exciting and varied ski area, particularly for the red runner. It has easy access to the main Zeller Gondola and the whole ski circuit whilst it’s also convenient for beginners with the nursery slopes at the Sonnenalm. As well as its own excellent skiing, the resort is linked to nearby Kaprun by a free bus where skiing up to 3000km is available on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier.

2 Ski Kindergartens in Zell, 5 in Kaprun. Book early as places are very limited.
In Zell, Crazy Daisy and Diele and the long time hotspots. Sunrise Disco and the Rock Bar are also important hang outs. In Kaprun nightlife is a tad more muted. Kitsch and Bitter has regular live bands. The Optimum sports centre contains an indoor pool, sauna and fitness centre, as well as a giant outdoor water slide.
