Ski Holidays in Val Thorens

Exclusive Ski Holidays Val Thorens

At an altitude of 2300m, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe and undoubtedly one of the very best! Part of the huge Three Valleys area, the resort has been cleverly planned, creating a village feel around a compact centre (where car access is restricted) and offering doorstep skiing practically wherever you stay. Not surprisingly, the height of Val Thorens means long hours of sunshine, an unrivalled snow record and great skiing for all grades. Nightlife is informal and relaxed with a good choice of restaurants, bars and clubs. For non-skiers, there is a superb sports centre with tennis and squash, an indoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi.

RESORT INFORMATION

The range of slopes in Val Thorens skiing area is amongst the best in the world, with the testing mogul fields of the Cime de Caron and La Masse, further down the valley, and endless off piste opportunities on the Chaviere or Peclet glaciers for advanced adventurers. The virtually inexhaustible range of red and blue pistes provides the intermediate skier with endless opportunities during their Val Thorens skiing holiday. The long sweeping blues such as Genepi, and the more challenging reds, including the long descent down to the Maurienne valley, added to the vast terrain of the rest of the Trois Vallees, more than satisfies even the most mileage-hungry of skiers during their ski holiday. Val Thorens France has many runs back to resort, which is where the wide open gentle blue slopes favoured by the novice skiers and boarders are found.

APRES SKI / NIGHTLIFE

There are lots of places to eat in town, including a number of fast-food options. For British pub grub (fish and chips, burgers etc.), try the Frog and Roast Beef. El Gringos serves fantastic Tex-Mex food and the staff are a hoot. There are long wooden benches, perfect for large groups. For a pizza, or traditional Savoyard cuisine, La Paillotte in the town centre is very cosy and serves excellent food. Gourmands must try the marvellous L’Oxalys. This restaurant is run by Jean Sulpice, who has recently been awarded a Michelin star, in fact the ‘highest’ star in Europe at 2300m.
