Ski Holidays in Switzerland

Slap bang in the middle of the Alps lies Switzerland. Ski holidays in Switzerland feature picturesque mountain villages, spectacular scenery and best of all . . . lashings of cheese fondue. Switzerland's main ski airports include Bern, Geneva, Zurich and Lausanne. Some of the most popular ski resorts in Switzerland are: Verbier, Zermatt, St Moritz, Davos and Wengen.

Overview:

Set at 1500 metres, Verbier belongs to the Four Valleys domain and is particularly popular with advanced skiers seeking excellent off-piste and a lively après ski scene. Sitting at 1620 metres, Zermatt is dominated by the spectacular Matterhorn and is a haven for intermediate and advanced skiers. At 1770 metres, the glamorous resort of St Moritz is one of the most famous in Switzerland, known for its excellent cross-country skiing and beautiful frozen lake. The resort of Davos, at 1560 metres, enjoys access to 200 miles of pistes and is suitable for all levels. Wengen sits at 1275 metres and is famous for its exhilarating downhill course, 'the Lauberhorn'.

Ski holidays in Switzerland are also renowned for a lively après ski scene. Zermatt features numerous mountaintop and slope-side bars and restaurants, as well as more than 100 in the town itself. Here visitors will find traditional Swiss dishes, including fondue, sausage and cheeses, as well as many international favourites. Zermatt also hosts evening folklore shows, a film festival and a couple of casinos. More energetic visitors can choose from one of the nightclubs.
