Steamboat is a fantastic resort for skiers of all level of ability. Steamboat is very well known as Ski Town USA; this is due to the resorts wild west atmosphere and the infamous champagne powder snow. Tree-skiing/boarding holidays are popular here, as the Aspens seem to be spaced at just the right intervals to form a natural deep-powder slalom course and, being so dry, the powder remains skiable for days after a storm.
Steamboat itself is divided into two areas: the Old Town and Steamboat Springs. The base area of the resort is packed with purpose built accommodation, clustered around the lifts at the base of the mountain. The Old Town itself was originally a cattle town and still keeps that western feel and originality, with its western characteristics and cowboy outfitter shops!
