
St Moritz is one the oldest ski resorts in the world and is well known for its mineral springs and spa, it is an elegant and chic resort with plenty to do, and there are 350kms of pistes to check out. There are two areas to St Moritz, the first is St Moritz Dorf, sophisticated and fashionable and the second is St Moritz Bad, a more quiet resort located next to the beautiful frozen lake.
There are a total of 88 runs in St Moritz, 40% OF THESE ARE SUITABLE FOR THE ADVANCED SKIER, 25% Intermediate and 35% beginner,so whatever your ability you should find slopes to keep you happy.The area is covered by 56 lifts to assist you in moving from slope to slope. There is no shortage of activity off the slopes so ,if you like the idea of a break from the slopes, you shouldn’t find yourself bored, being the trendy resort it is, St Moritz has an array of stylish hotels, glitzy bars and nightclubs, gourmet restaurants and casinos making your evenings as much fun as your days.
Who goes there?
The resort caters for everyone, whether you are a beginner or an advanced skier you will find a variety of slopes to suit, snowboarders will not be disappointed either.
Nightlife, food & Drink:
French, Italian, Traditional, Chinese and US cuisines are served in many of the 64 restaurants in St Moritz, so your needs will be met whatever yore taste. If it’s the nightlife that interests you then there are a variety of bars and nightclubs to choose from, whether it’s a quiet or a lively night then you will always find somewhere to suit your mood.
Skiing: Beginners – with a huge 35% of runs suitable for beginners you are guaranteed to find somewhere to get started, the Corviglia slopes are well known as a good choice for beginners.
Intermediate – you will find broad runs and challenging slopes in St Moritz and if you are looking to progress the area of Corvatsch is an intermediate skier’s paradise, where the runs never stay straight for long.
Advanced – you may not see St Moritz as an obvious choice but around a third of the terrain is made up of black runs. Diavolezza and Lagalp are recommended for steep terrain and some of the toughest routes in St Moritz.
Snowboarding
The area of Engadine is a snowboarders dream, with unlimited free-ride areas and perfectly prepared runs. There is also a permanent half pipe in Engadine to keep you smiling.
Off the slopes
The activities in St Moritz are endless, with night skiing and cross country skiing to add to the list of slope activity, off the slopes you can try Swimming, tennis, squash, curling, ice shuttle rides, sleigh rides, cricket, polo, dog sledding and paragliding or take a visit to a health spa, museum, cinema or casino. During January and February you can witness the spectacular horse riding across the frozen lake.
Transfers
Transfers from both Zurich and Milan airports are around 3 hours by road, depending on the weather conditions, and 4 hours by train.
