Scheffau is little-known as a ski resort on the international scene, but locals know that it offers access to some of the best skiing in the vast SkiWelt area. When resorts on the other side of the ski area may be suffering through lack of snow, Scheffau consistently produces the best quality in the area on the shady side of the mountain.
Scheffau's skiing is reached via one of two gondolas which both head up to the main Brandstadl area - the four-seater one on the right heads straight to the top of the mountain, while the eight-seater has an intermediate stop at the Neualm. Beginners' lifts and easy slopes are located at the top of this area with some gentle runs down to the complex of lifts directly on the other side from the gondola stations. The Osthang chairlift returns people to the Brandstadl, while the twin Eiberg chairlifts give access to short runs with normally excellent snow, as well as being the start of the route across to the Hochbrixen area and further to Söll, Hopfgarten and Itter.

Scheffau is a great place for your children to learn to ski. You can be sure your children will get top class tuition at Scheffau's fun 'KinderKaiserland' ski school area, located at the top of the main Scheffau gondola. If you're keen for your child to try skiing from the earliest age, the ski school also offers tuition for children 2-3 years incl. These special classes take place at lunchtime, for just 45 minutes each day - just enough for little legs to get a taste of skiing fun. Skis are included and children will need warm, waterproof boots (not ski boots).
In Scheffau evenings are friendly and relaxed with an entertainment programme available in resort. Bars to try: • Wisenhof • The Waldhof Alm • Red Bull après ski tent
