Spread out along the valley in this historic and charming village, the lifts are every few hundred yards, so you are never far away from one. Ski slopes run down both sides of the resort, which sits in a high altitude valley joining the 'two alps' of Venosc and Mont de Lans. The resort is ideal for non-skiers, as it gives access to both the glacier and Venosc by gondola. A funicular passes through the ice to La Meije glacier (3570 metres) there are breathtaking views and superb snow conditions.
There are 200km of marked runs in Les Deux Alpes, 59 ski lifts, a superb snowpark, and a little more than 700 hectares of off-piste. Sixty percent of Les Deux Alpes on-piste runs are designated for beginners and intermediate skiers and boarders and 40 percent for the more competent and experienced riders. Les Deux Alpes also has the advantage of guaranteed snow year round due to high altitude and the use of 105 snow cannons. The Jandri Express cable car takes you up to 3200m and then the funicular up to 3425m. At the top you are greeted with a 360-degree panoramic view of the French and Italian Alps: la Meije, le Mont Blanc and many others. The Diable gondola heads up to the Tête Moute at 2800m and gives access to steep on-piste runs, including a challenging 1200m vertical mogul field.

One of the livliest of the French resorts there are more than 30 bars to choose from and later on four night clubs which remain open until dawn in peak season. There are ten piano bars - one of which offers a selection of 200 different beers. Several have a 'British' theme, including Mike's Bar, Smokey Joe's and the Windsor with its selection of whiskys. The Café Bresilien has a reputation for great music. Later on l'Opera night club is one of the best. More unusual après ski options include full moon mountain hikes to mountain restaurants for dinner.
