Ski holidays in France offer some of the most popular skiing in Europe. Skiing in France not only means short flights, but extensive and varied terrain too. French ski resorts are based round the two extensive areas of: the Three Valleys and L'Espace Killy. The Three Valleys is one of the world's largest ski areas covering more than 375 miles of runs connected by 200 ski lifts, while L'Espace Killy boasts 137 runs, two snowparks, two halfpipes and 97 lifts.

The Three Valley Ski area connects the resorts of Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens. Set at 1850 metres, Courchevel is an exclusive resort made up of five separate villages featuring luxury ski chalets and fine restaurants. At 1450, Meribel is suitable for skiers of all levels and is particularly popular with the British. At 2230 metres, Val Thorens is the highest village in the Three Valleys, and indeed the whole of Europe. Both Val Thorens and Meribel are renowned for their lively après ski scene, with numerous late-night bars and discos.

The resorts of Val d'Isere and Tignes serve the ski area of Espace Killy. Set at 1850 metres, Val d'Isere is well suited to intermediates and advanced skiers and benefits from a fast lift system made up of funiculars and chairlifts. Also, the unlimited off-piste makes Val d'Isere particularly popular with more experienced skiers. At 2100 metres Tignes is popular with all levels of skiers. Beginners can learn on the long, wide sweeping runs, while there are a number of blue, red and black runs for intermediates and advanced, as well as excellent off-piste. Ski holidays in France also offer lively après ski, particularly in the resorts of Meribel, Chamonix, Les Deux Alpes and Val d'Isere.
