Ski Holidays in Bormio

The holiday resort of Bormio has a lovely position at a close distance away from the Stelvio National Park, where holiday makers will find their paradise both in winter and summer. Those that love to exercise strenuous activities will enjoy the environment, but facilities are provided also for leisure visitors.Actually, Bormio is not only a ski resort – it offers true recreation and relaxing holiday in the scenic mountain surroundings.

Not for a minute will you be bored, since multiple events are organized for any kind of sports fans.It gives the tourist possibility of experiencing the everyday life of a small town, the absolute opposite to regular ski resorts. Instead of large condominiums and modern hotels in the centre, you will find traditional buildings, churches, walk along cobblestone streets and see citizens of a small town in their everyday life.

Accommodation

Skiing
Bormio's 1792 meter vertical drop is one of three biggest in Italy what makes the resort more attractive to skiers preferring long runs from the top of the mountain back down to the resort. The longest run is almost 14 kilometres long and you will find many more of similar length. The routes are artificially snowed so that the skiing conditions are guaranteed at the top level. Large vertical drop should not threaten beginners as the runs are rather gentle. Advanced skiers will have a bit limited choice but still should be satisfied with off-piste skiing.

Winter Activities
Skiing is possible most time through year, since the Stelvio Park boasts a glacier and excellent conditions for preserving the high quality of snow. Relatively sufficient number of pistes is adapted predominantly for beginners and intermediates; those that prefer to ski with assistance or improve abilities can subscribe at the ski schools. Several difficult runs cater for the pleasure of the ski experts, who can try also the off-piste terrain. With one ski pass you can diversify at the Santa Caterina arena, which is at a one hour away distance. After a good downhill slide, unwind at a rustic restaurant and feel the emotion of the après ski scene.

Summer Activities
Summer comes at Bormio with the great events of the season – international motorbike meetings, car meetings and the 'Ghiaccissimo' kermess. Take a hiking tour and discover the marvellous natural area with so many colourful meadows, alpine lakes and unforgettable vistas. The ice stadium is a modern structure that attracts everyone for hockey, skating and other artistic performances. If you decide to build shape, the gym and sports centre are at your disposal. There is also a swimming pool and splendid wellness temptations for relaxing moments.

Quiet and vibrant at the same time, this resort will charm you with its nice centre and variety of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars.

Weather
The temperatures in Bormio are rather moderate, what allows the snow stay on the routes and the skiers not to freeze. However, winds get stronger in the afternoon and the slopes may become a bit icy. Generally, lower trails do better in the afternoon thanks to snow making equipment.
