
Kefalos is a purpose-built resort with a laid-back atmosphere, situated in the south west of the island of Kos. It is surrounded by spectacular scenery and sits beneath the old town of Kefalos, from which it takes its name. The resort has plenty of good restaurants and a couple of small nightclubs, but is mainly geared for tourists looking for a quiet holiday.
Kefalos itself has some souvenir shops and grocery stores, but serious shoppers will have to head to Kos town to find a wide variety of goods. In Kos it is possible to buy anything from a jar of delicious island honey to CDs, traditional crafts and jewellery. The beach in Kefalos is a mix of sand and shingle and is ideal for lazy days in the sun.
The sea is crystal clear and warm making it well suited for all the watersports that can be arranged here. Some of the best beaches in Kos are nearby including Paradise Beach. There are fascinating historical sites scattered around the island, particularly in the capital of Kos Town, 90 minutes away. Further afield, boat tours can be arranged to the spectacular volcanic island of Nisyros and to Rhodes (though be aware the journey takes almost three hours).

Kefalos is ideal for anyone seeking a relaxing holiday, however may not be suitable for those wishing to be out until the early hours!
Shopping
Kefalos has the usual souvenir shops and supermarkets, but does not have large shopping facilities. However, for those wishing to do some major shopping can head to Kardamena or Kos Town, which both have fantastic shopping facilities, all offering very different goods, including; hand crafted jewellery and homemade jam. There is an also large boutiques for those who like a bit of sparkle!
Nightlife
Kefalos is not as lively or as well known for its nightlife as other Greek resorts, but does have its own style of nightlife. It has a number of bars and clubs to suit everyone. Most of which are children friendly, therefore making it a spectacular family resort. Most bars offer entertainment and food.
Restaurants/Cuisine
Kefalos offers a wide range of cuisine in a number of very different restaurants, ranging from mouth watering steaks to authentic Greek cuisine. There is something for everyone in Kefalos.
Activities
Kefalos has fantastic beaches which are ideal for lazy days in the sun. The sea is crystal clear and warm which makes it perfect for those wanting to be adventurous with the water sports, some of which are; water skiing and jet skiing.
Attractions
Historical sits can be found scattered around the whole island, however most of which are found in the capital of Kos Town, which is approximately 90 minutes away from Kefalos. Boat tours can be found further afield with the tours heading into the volcanic island of Nisvros or to Rhodes; however the journey does take approximately 3 hours.

The transfer time from the airport to Kefalos is between 30 and 45 minutes.
Weather
Kefalos is a sunny resort with hot dry summers and very mild winters. Temperatures in summer can range between 28°C and 35°C during the day and about 22°C at night. Rainfall is almost non-existent in summer but showers are expected between October and March.
Transport
Taxis and public bus services are widely available throughout Kefalos. Cars can be hired too for those wishing to explore further afield. There are also ferries to Rhodes, Crete and Turkey from Kos Town.
Money
Banks and foreign exchange bureaus are widely available throughout Kefalos. Traveller’s cheques and credit cards are widely accepted. ATM machines are throughout the resort and are usually the cheapest method of obtaining Euros. Euro is the currency used in Kefalos.
