Diving is becoming increasingly popular, with amazing ship wrecks under water. There are several dive centres, mainly on the islands of Sal and Boa Vista.

Food & Drink

The restaurants in Cape Verde combine the flavours of Creole, Portuguese and African meals to create superb dishes to suit all tastes. Seafood is extremely popular, with the freshest ingredients straight from the sea.

Nightlife

The nightlife in Cape Verde is more traditional, with live music and dance. The music can be heard from afar, with the sounds of guitars and violins filling the air. Some nightclubs are found within the larger hotels.

Shopping

Shopping in Cape Verde is mainly in local markets, as it is very low key. Day to day items can be very expensive as they are imported. However, the markets are fantastic for unique gifts.

Currency

The official currency of Cape Verde is the Cape Verdean Escudo. Bureau de change is available in the International Airport, as well as, at local banks. ATM machines are available at the airport, but are very rare throughout resorts, banks also have ATMs, however, are well known for being out of order regularly. It is illegal to import and export local currency. Foreign currency has no limits, as long as the relevant declarations are made on arrival and departure.

Language

The official language of Cape Verde is Portuguese. Some English, German, French, Italian and Spanish are spoken.
