You can choose from staterooms and suites, with either a picture window or a private balcony from which to watch the world float by. You also get to enjoy special touches such as complimentary champagne and canapes, 24 hour room-service, an in-room minibar with wine and soft drinks, butler service, as well as exquisite decor and linens.
Dining is exceptional on luxury cruises, with award winning gourmet cuisine created by chefs of Michelin-star standard, alongside the finest wines and spirits. You won't usually be confined to a fixed time to dine and, if you prefer, you can enjoy dinner for two served in the privacy of your suite or on your balcony.
With most of the luxury cruise lines being all-inclusive there is often no need to worry about paying extra for drinks and wine with your meals or in your stateroom as these extras are included in the price of your cruise, making luxury cruises extremely good value for money. Gratuities are also included with some cruise lines.
Ships in the luxury class are usually designed for fewer guests and more space. They vary from the larger Crystal ships accommodating 1,000 guests, to Silversea and Regent Seven Seas who accommodate for between 300 and 700 guests, to the small Yachts of Seabourn who entertain only 200 guests. Despite their smaller size the ships do have many of the same facilities as larger vessels, like swimming pools, state of the art fitness facilities, spas and sun decks. They will often also offer extras such as guest lecturers and port talks to stimulate the mind as well as the body! Another benefit of cruising on these smaller ships is that they can call into the more exotic and exclusive ports that the larger mainstream ships can't get to.
