The weather in Calangute features a tropical climate with high temperatures and humidity year round. Temperatures in Goa rarely drop below the mid twenties and soar to the mid thirties at times. April is the hottest and most humid month. In the summer, the region is hit by heavy monsoon rains. Most British holidaymakers prefer to visit between November and April when the weather is hot and mainly dry.
Things to see & do

You will be spoilt for choice of things to see and do on Calangute holidays. Join in water sports on the beach, with surfing, waterskiing and parasailing on the menu. Discover sharks, turtles, barracudas and ancient shipwrecks on a scuba diving trip in the waves off shore. Indulge in a bit of retail therapy amongst the stalls at the Saturday morning bazaar. Boat trips along the local rivers are a great way to get close to nature, keep your eyes peeled for crocodiles and dolphins! Culture fans will savour a visit to the nearby Church of Alex with its impressive dome and giant towers. The Dudhsagar Waterfalls and the elephants at Bondha Wildlife Sanctuary are must see sights too. The Anjuna Beach, Baga Beach and Vagator Beach are all great places to spend a few hours.

After dark, Calangute has a great selection of bars to choose from, with many open until midnight. Hotels and apartments often host their own in house entertainment programmes. The lively bars and nightspots of Baga Beach are not too far away, if you want to party to the early hours.

Food & drink

There are plenty of options to tempt your tastebuds in Calangute. The restaurants and cafes are grouped around the beach entrance and along the main Baga Road. Chinese, Indian, Italian and local Goan flavours are on the menu, with freshly caught seafood a tasty treat. You can even find a full English cooked breakfast too.
