The weather and climate in Bodrum is one of its main attractions. The summers are hot and sunny and the winter months are the cooler but even then the temperatures can reach 16ºC.
Things to see & do

On a holiday in Bodrum, youll be spoilt for choice with beaches, from quiet and secluded spots to larger stretches of sand packed with an endless variety of water sports including parasailing, waterskiing, canoeing, windsurfing and jetskiing. Take a boat trip to secluded, unspoiled bays, which are ideal for snorkelling. The calm seas around the Bodrum Peninsula have many interesting spots for experienced divers to enjoy as well as beginners. Experience a traditional Hammam (Turkish Bath). Take a jeep safari and explore the inland mountains and villages. Bodrum is packed with historical sites including St Peters Castle, the Cavat Sakir and Zeki Muren museums, The Mausoleum, the amphitheatre and the Mindos Gate and city ruins. Shop at the local markets where you can find all kind of goods from fresh produce to clothing, textiles, spices, copper goods and souvenirs.

When the sun goes down, Bodrum becomes a thriving mix of bars, nightclubs, restaurants and cafes where you can have fun and enjoy live music, rock, techno, hiphop and Turkish pop. Start on Cumhuriyet Caddesi (street) in the centre and walk along by the sea until the world famous Halikarnas Night Club comes into view. The neighbouring resort of Gumbet is lively too with its discos and bars.

Food & drink

Bodrum has lots of restaurants and cafes offering a variety of food from traditional Turkish fare to Chinese, Indian and fast food takeaways. Seafood is of course a real speciality in Bodrum. Baklava (filo pastry filled with honey soaked pistachios) is perfect for dessert. Local wines, Efes (the national beer of Turkey) and the world famous Raki make an ideal accompaniment for your meal. Turkish coffee is served strong and sweet with some Turkish delight on the side.
