Standing on the Eastern banks of the Nile, approximately 80 miles south of Luxor, this large city is a bustling port of call. Home to beautiful Lake Nasser and the High Dam, as well as the Temples of Philae, it's bursting with fascinating things to see and do. Haggle in the markets, relax by the river and get a full-on culture fix before you continue with your cruise.
Sightseeing is the main attraction in Aswan: Swing by Lake Nasser and the High Dam, check out the breathtaking Temple of Philae, or cool off in the beautiful botanical gardens on Kitchner's Island. Don't miss the chance to haggle for local crafts in one of Aswan's traditional markets. Other mustsee sights include the spectacular Edfu Light & Sound Show, the Nubian Museum, Elephantine Island and the Unifinished Obelisk.
Cruise stops here are all about the sightseeing, so there isn't much in the way of nightlife. Still, you'll find Nubian dancing and cultural shows at most upscale hotels in Aswan.
From peaceful shisha cafes to gorgeous riverside restaurants, Aswan is packed with plenty of places to eat. Don't miss fresh fish from Lake Nasser or the Red Sea.
