Holidays in Antigua usually centre round the many sandy beaches, but there's much more to do besides. Try snorkelling and diving and don't miss a boat trip to nearby Barbuda. Adrenaline junkies love the rainforest zip wire, whilst 'Stingray City Antigua', in Seaton's Village, offers an opportunity to interact with stingrays in safe and controlled conditions. Visit historic Nelson's Dockyard in English Harbour with its museum, shops and restaurants and find out more about the island's heritage in the island capital, St John. In August, join the annual carnival, a colourful celebration of life on this laidback island.
Most of the nightlife in Antigua is centred around St John's, although hotels usually provide inhouse entertainment including steel bands, limbo dancers and calypso music. For those who like to dance the night away, there are also a few nightclubs and discos. Shirley Heights is the place to be on a Sunday afternoon to party with the locals theres a barbeque, live steel bands, reggae and great rum punches!
